HELP:
True Sort of Library of Congress Class Call Numbers
wrLCclassSort
Please read the license agreement above before using this program: The use of this program is entirely at your own risk.

This tiny Windows CONSOLE utility sorts Library of Congress Class Call Numbers correctly. The data to be sorted must exist in a file with the extensions "*.lcClass.csv" for a "comma-separated-value" file, where the call numbers are located in the first field of each record, or in a file with the extension "*.lcClass.txt" where the call numbers occupy the first 45 character positions in each record. See below on how to define a Call Number Stop-Character.

"Drag & Drop" your data file containing LC Class Call Numbers onto this program's icon. The sorted file will be placed in the same folder where your original source file is located, with the same base name and the extension "*.sort.LCclass.csv" respectively "*.sort.LCclass.txt". Additionally, you may browse to your working folder using Windows Explorer, then right-click while the data file is selected, and "SEND TO…" wrLCclassSort to process. And as a third option for the hardcore GUI user, you may just start up this utility and browse to the in-/output file/folders you desire.

For your convenience, a configuration file has been included. You can find it in the same folder as the
wrLCclassSort utility with the extension .ini. You may edit the variable "ExitAfterFinished=" to YES, if the program is to exit automatically after it is finished saving the sorted output. This may be helpful, if you run wrLCclassSort in a batch environment.

If you enter a character (or the 3-digit number ASCII equivalent) -the Call Number Stop-Character- for the variable "EndOfLCcharacter=" and you are processing a ".lcclass.txt" file, only the characters that come before the "EndOfLCcharacter" will be considered as LC Call Number. This may reduce the 45 character limit in this mode.

Warning: If you process files other then in the above described format, results may be unpredictable, including lock-up of your computer.

wrLCclassSort file cycle:
LC Class Call Number containing .csv or .txt file (see above) -> Windows PC -> wrLCclassSort -> sorted file with the same base name as your input file and extension ".sort.LCclass.csv" respectively ".sort.LCclass.txt"
